Women of the Wells Women of the Wells
Building wells in water impoverished countries!

ABOUT US

Happy Child in Laos We build bore wells in water-impoverished countries, taking clean water to those without a clean water supply. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people and stopping an array of diseases (and blindness caused by dirty water), suffering and death. By providing a village with a clean water supply, we also end the cycle of poverty by providing hope for a better tomorrow.
We impact the lives of children by ending their water-gathering duties and allowing them to attend school. When the heavy responsibility for fetching the family water supply falls on children, they have no time to attend school. Some who fetch water have been attacked and killed by animals on the trek to a distant (and often dirty) water supply.
The wells we have built provide clean water to tens of thousands every day and will for generations to come.

Mission Statement

The mission of Women of the Wells is to bring clean, uncontaminated water to impoverished people throughout the world. “Inasmuch as you have done this unto the least of my brethren, you have done this unto me.”
Fresh Clean Water

History

We are a group of ladies who, upon learning of the suffering, disease and deaths of millions of people each year due to water shortages and unclean water said, “This is preventable.” It was on that day in 2005 that Women of the Wells was born. Our first fund raiser was a luncheon and we raised enough funds to build 5 wells. Encouraged by the success of this endeavor we hosted two more luncheons before we brought this outreach to the greater public by having a Walk 4 Water. To date we have relieved the suffering of tens of thousands of people.

Speakers Bureau

We have started a Speakers Bureau and are letting people know about the work we are doing and why we do it. Most people have no idea the extent of deadly waterborne diseases and death caused by the absence of a clean water supply to a village… or the fact that it’s PREVENTABLE. We are happy to speak at any gatherings in corporations, civic organizations, churches, or schools. For more information on this, contact our office at (949) 644-2182.

Financial Accountability

We seek to conduct our activities with highest standards of integrity. Out of respect for individuals’ privacy, we do not rent or sell our mailing list to other groups wishing to use the names and addresses of our supporters.
We raise funds throughout the year and when we accumulate $1,800 or someone sponsors the full price of a well or four cisterns, we immediately place the order to start the building project. We also raise funds by having our annual Walk 4 Water.
Our financial statements will be made available after filing our Form 990 with the IRS each year. There will also be a summary report as well.

Fund Raising

Our fund-raising appeals clearly identify the purpose, which is exclusively devoted to providing clean water in water-impoverished countries. We ensure that donations are used for the purposes for which they were raised. Our Board has directed that all contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects.
If we were to receive more contributions for a given well-building project than are needed we would apply it to another well-building project. The need is huge. People are literally DYING for clean water. Death never takes a holiday in water-impoverished countries.

Our Structure

We are governed by a responsible, unpaid Board of Directors, and have no paid staff. Our Board, which draws no salaries, meets to establish policies, plan fundraising events, approve budgets, and review operational results and accomplishments. We also have an unpaid Planning Committee that participates in the planning of events. Some members of our Planning Committee comprise the Public Relations Committee, which is involved more directly with outreach to the community (contacting potential sponsors such as businesses, schools, churches, and the media).
For the most part, the costs we have had have been paid by various members of the Board and Committees. We have no unpaid debts.

Non-Profit Status

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization.
